The Reactions of Cyanide with Globin Hemochromogen
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cyanide can react with globin hemochromogen in two different ways. In the first reaction cyanide combines with globin hemochromogen without displacing or competing with globin. In the second reaction cyanide displaces globin.

On Hemochromogen
1. Every hemochromogen consists of the iron pyrrol complex, reduced heme, combined with some nitrogenous substance. 2. In every hemochromogen there is the equilibrium: Hemochromogen right arrow over left arrow Reduced heme + Nitrogenous substance. 3. Cyanide can form two distinct compounds with reduced heme, one of which is the typical hemochromogen, cyan-hemochromogen. 4. Reduced heme in alkal...
متن کاملOn Pyridine Hemochromogen
1. Cyanide hemochromogen probably contains one cyanide group per heme group. 2. The equilibrium between pyridine hemochromogen and its components, pyridine and reduced heme, is complicated to an unknown extent by the precipitation of reduced heme and the aggregation of pyridine hemochromogen. 3. These complications were not taken into account in R. Hill's experiments on pyridine hemochromogen. ...
متن کاملSpectroscopy of Catalase
Catalase is resistant to oxidizing agents; e.g., ferricyanide. It is also resistant to reducing agents; e.g., catalytically activated hydrogen, hydrosulfite, ferrotartrate, cysteine. The hemin group of the enzyme will combine with cyanide, sulfides, nitric oxide, fluoride. It will not combine with carbon monoxide. Catalase is therefore a ferric complex. The stability of the ferric iron in the e...

195Pt and 1H NMR has been used to show that addition of chlorine and bromine to [Pt(CN)4]2_ in presence of perchloric acid in water results in cyanide and water scrambling with formation of eleven complexes of the type [Pt(CN)4-nCl(H2O)n+1](n-1)+ (n=0, 1, 2, 3, 4). Addition of NBu4OH ...
متن کاملThe Magnetic Properties and Structure of the Hemochromogens and Related Substances.
In the course of a general study of the structure of hemoglobin and its derivatives we have investigated the magnetic properties of ferriheme, ferroheme, several hemochromogens and nickel protoporphyrin. The results of this investigation and their structural interpretation are discussed in the following paragraphs. The prosthetic group of hemoglobin, ferrous protoporphyrin, we call ferroheme, f...
